You only have to go into the grounds of the hotel to experience the wide variety of bird life here. As the grounds are in an oxbow of the river, the 27 acres have been protected since ancient times. Today they host two Sites of Special Scientific Interest. With buzzards circling above, herons, kingfishers, ducks and dippers in our river, Caer Beris is a birdwatcher’s delight. (Ask Reception for a list of birds which have been seen in the grounds.)

Over 50 bird boxes are set up in the grounds for the nests of blue tits, great tits and flycatchers. Flycatchers return year after year to make their nests in our grounds.

However the Heart of Wales is also a bird watcher's paradise with three RSPB reserves close by as well as the Elan Valley, Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains just minutes away. So you will want to get out and about. You can take your own car and with the detailed directions we will give you, explore the countryside. Come as a group or join with other guests and get taken by Land Rover on a tour to remember.
